Midfielder Stanley and defender Haining have joined Torquay and Fleetwood respectively on loan deals, but McIlroy will look to offset their departures with a couple of new faces.
He said: "I am looking at a couple more signings when the loan market opens up again but to bring in new players I have to let players leave and make important decisions such as letting people like Craig Stanley and Will Haining go out on loan.
"Craig has played a massive part in our success over the past few years but these are the decisions managers have to make and that is what we get paid for."
