And McIlroy is already looking to the future as he plots a strong end to the current campaign.
He told the Morecambe Visitor: "I now have to look at strengthening for next year with contracts to sort and look to bring players in.
"Now our target is to put as many points up on the board to give us the strongest finish possible.
"We are only into our third year in the Football League and to finish in the top half of the table would be a fantastic achievement."
