Morecambe boss Sammy McIlroy says he may still look to strengthen his squad despite having defenders Will Haining and Chris McCready back from injury.McIlroy had originally tried to bring in cover for the pair, who should now be available for Saturday's game with Shrewsbury at the Globe Arena.

"If I can improve the team I will," McIlroy told BBC Radio Lancashire.

"The loan I tried to get last week didn't materialise but we're stronger now with both players returning."

Morecambe are still looking for their first league win at the Globe Arena having drawn four and lost one of their previous five games at the new facility.

But with the official opening set to take place prior to Saturday's game, McIlroy is hoping that will provide his players with an added incentive.

"We've had a difficult start with a number of top teams having been here already," said the former Northern Ireland manager. "But we've got a fantastic little stadium and it takes time to get used to the new surroundings.

"At the start the lads thought it was like playing at an away ground but now with the crowd getting behind us everything is falling into place and we're looking forward to getting that first win."
