McIlroy was left furious after his side crashed to a 7-2 thumping at Port Vale last weekend.
He hauled off midfielders Kevan Hurst and Garry Hunter as well as striker Danny Carlton in the second half at Vale Park.
Those three and several other players are facing an anxious wait over their inclusion.
Andy Parrish and Andy Fleming are set to miss out again through injury while Paul Scott (knee) and Kieran Charnock (Achilles) remain long-term absentees.
McIlroy is expecting a response to last week`s capitulation but he admitted: "It was a few days ago now yet I still can't believe how bad we were."M
