McIlroy unhappy with defence

Morecambe boss Sammy McIlroy was frustrated with his side's poor start to the game as the Shrimps suffered their first defeat at the Globe Arena with a convincing 4-1 loss to Bury. Mick Jones fired Bury into an early lead from close range and Steve Schumacher made it two soon after with an unstoppable 20 yard drive. Stewart Drummond pulled a goal back for Morecambe on the stroke of half-time and the home side then had a Paul Scott goal disallowed three minutes after the interval. Jim Bentley hit the post as the Shrimps searched for an equaliser before the Shakers completed the win with late goals from Andy Haworth and Schumacher. "We gave away two early goals and we have done that far too often this season," said McIllroy. "But then we had the better of the game for a long period, scored one and had a perfectly good goal disallowed which would have made it a totally different match. "We hit the post twice as well and that has been our luck lately. Things are just not going for us and to see Bury add two late goals made it all the more annoying because this was never a 4-1 game and the scoreline certainly flattered them."
