Taylor told BBC Radio Lancashire: "One of the comments that came across strongly last year was that it didn't feel like home.

"That came from the manager, the players and supporters. We've got to really work hard on that collectively."

Taylor continued: "The manager [Jim Bentley] has some great ideas, he wants the safety barriers painting red rather than the galvanised grey they are now.

"He's also put an appeal out for fans to put flags up in the home end, not just for match days, but so they can leave them at the ground permanently to create atmosphere all the time."

The development, in the Westgate area of the resort, has a capacity of just over 6,800 and includes include seating and terracing.

Morecambe have also taken the decision to use the Globe Arena as their main training base.

The players are changing at the ground, eating breakfast and lunch at the stadium while training locally at Morecambe High School.

"The boys come into the Globe Arena in the morning, they eat together go out to train and then return to have lunch together," Taylor said.

"It's great to be based in the town, the lads are jogging down the promenade or on the beach and that's good for the community."

Morecambe begin their 2011/12 League Two campaign with a home game against Barnet on 6 August.
