Roche pens new Morecambe contract

Morecambe goalkeeper Barry Roche has signed a new two-year contract, keeping him at the League Two club until 2012.The 28-year-old, who joined the Shrimps in the summer of 2008, made 48 appearances this season and was named the club's player of the year.

Roche told the club website: "A couple of other teams showed an interest in me but I always knew this was where I wanted to be.

"I am really ambitious and Morecambe are a club that are going places."

He added: "We showed that this year by reaching the play-offs and I am hoping we can match that next season.

"It's an exciting time to be at Morecambe and all the lads are looking forward to moving to the new ground."
