McIlroy said: "It was a great result and a great performance. I was particularly delighted with the response after Saturday, though.
"We were so poor at the weekend but the lads reacted brilliantly.
"I thought about changing the back four around. We did that, but all round it was an excellent showing.
"I thought we limited Bury to scarcely any clear-cut chances, so I've got to be pleased with the work-rate."
