The Daggers came from behind to secure a well-fought victory against Morecambe, but only the Shrimps will know how they managed to leave Victoria Road without something from this game.

Morecambe opened the scoring on 20 minutes, Michael Twiss slotting home Lee Elam's cross from 12 yards.

The scores were level 10 minutes later when the Morecambe defence lost concentration leaving the excellent Ashley Vickers to head in from close range.

Daggers' winner was cruel luck on a hard-working Morecambe side but an excellent finish from Craig Mackail-Smith gave the home side all the points.

The Shrimps' poor run of one point from the last three matches looked liked ending against the Daggers.

Elam had an excellent chance to open the scoring but managed to shoot wide in the 13th minute with the goal at his mercy.

Morecambe's next attack saw them score when Elam's trickery on the right bamboozled the Daggers defence and his cross reached Twiss whose finishing was lethal.

Dagenham responded well with Mark Janney going close in the 30th minute.

The Daggers deservedly drew level when Vickers headed in Lee Flynn's free-kick as Morecambe keeper Adam Sollitt and his defence dithered.

Wave after wave of second-half pressure was soaked up by the Daggers defence.

Dagenham's winner came courtesy of Mackail-Smith from 10 yards after keeper Tony Roberts' kick out was flicked on by Chris Moore.
