As the countdown towards the end of the season continued Farnborough were unlucky not to take any points in their match at home to Morecambe.

The visitors showed their intentions within a minute of the kick off. The in-form Adriano Rigoglioso testing Boro keeper Tony Pennock, with a shot that he just managed to palm wide.

However the pressure told and with their fifth successive corner Morecambe Lee Elam opened the scoring with a shot taking a deflection off the unlucky Jim Rodwell.

In the 22nd minute Chris Piper was unlucky not to find the equaliser after some football led to his effort bouncing off the crossbar. The loose ball was cleared and the chance missed.

Just over the half hour mark and pivotal midfielder Geoff Pitcher was taken off with a foot injury to be replaced by Dean Green minutes later and a Garry Butterworth corner saw Green just unable to get a head on it to leave Boro still searching for the equaliser.

Rigoglioso continued to test Pennock in the closing minutes of the first half. Darren Annon also clearing off the line to take his side into the break trailing by a goal.

Boro picked up the pace for the second half and were rewarded within seven minutes when Joff Vansittart headed home the equaliser after a goalmouth scramble.

Another seven minutes on and Boro had two penalty appeals turned down in the space of minutes. The first when Vansittart had clearly been brought down and the second for a handball in the box.

Morecambe continued to threaten and the pressure told when Ryan-Zico Black took the lead for his side in the 72nd minute.

Nine minutes on and substitute Ken Charlery found the second equaliser of the game as he picked up Gary Patterson's cross to beat the offside trap and hit home.

Then just as the fans were banking on a well-earned point from this tough match, Black added his second after nipping through a poor Boro defence to snatch the lead and all three points just three minutes from time.
