Play-off rivals Hereford and Morecambe will have to be content with a point apiece after sharing the spoils at Edgar Street.

Morecambe snatched an early lead through Darren Kempson but this proved their only effort on goal in the whole match.

The Shrimps were content to concentrate on defence and their rearguard was only breached by Tamika Mkandawire's header just before the interval.

Morecambe became the first side to penetrate the Hereford defence in four Conference matches when, in the second minute, Kieron Walmsley's flag-kick was headed home by Kempson through a crowd of players past former Morecambe goalkeeper Craig Mawson.

After this, the Bulls dominated the remainder of the first period although they were rarely able to beak down a solid Morecambe defence.

Brian Smikle had a neat header saved on 34 minutes and the West Brom youngster's goalbound effort on 41 minutes, deflected for a corner, eventually brought about the equaliser.

Mark Robinson delivered a cross to the near post and Mkandawire rose high to head into the roof of the net.

As Hereford continued to dominate in the second period, Danny Williams and Danny Carey-Bertram both had efforts saved by Ryan Robinson.

But Mkandawire saved Hereford at the other end when he produced a superb tackle to rob Gary Thompson as the substitute raced through.

After that, however, it was down to Robinson to earn the man-of-the-match accolade with three excellent saves from Lee Mills.

The veteran tested the goalkeeper with a ten-yard shot, a 25-yard drive and a smart volley but on each occasion Robinson was up to the task to earn the Shrimps their point.
