Guy Ipoua's flashing drive two minutes into the second period of extra-time sent Hereford United into the final of the Nationwide Conference play-offs for the first time in three attempts.

Ipoua's decisive goal gave Hereford the lead for the third time on the night when they had also gone in front through Tamika Mkandawire and Andy Williams, only to be pegged back by a penalty from Wayne Curtis and a strike from Michael Twiss.

Hereford went ahead on their first corner of the game when Mkandawire met Rob Purdie's flag kick to power an unstoppable header past Steven Drench.

But the Shrimps were back on level terms straight from the kick-off when a poor challenge Gary Thompson by Alex Jeannin brought an undisputed penalty.

Curtis drove the spot-kick powerfully past Wayne Brown.

The Bulls however regained the lead with a brilliant strike from Williams on 12 minutes.

The 19-year-old twisted and turned before rifling in a 15-yard drive past Drench.

Simon Travis thundered in a shot from 30 yards on 28 minutes which Drench did well to turn away as Hereford sought to capitalise on an excellent passage of play.

Although the home side eased their grip somewhat as the interval approached, Morecambe were unable to seriously inconvenience Brown.

But that all changed six minutes into the second half when a cross from Ged Brannan was only half cleared and Twiss was waiting on the edge of the area to crack a shot past Brown.

Hereford might have regained the lead again however two minutes later when Purdie was unlucky to see his fine drive from the edge of the box come back off the post.

Morecambe dominated the remainder of normal time, but substitute Ipoua to have the final word and send the huge crowd into raptures.
