Jolley downs Morecambe

AFC Wimbledon moved above Morecambe and into third in League Two with a 2-1 win at the Globe Arena.

Christian Jolley was the Dons' hero with a header seven minutes from time to give the visitors a hard-fought three points.

Jolley headed home a right wing cross from Sam Hatton to give Terry Brown's side a fourth successive win.

The visitors had the better of the opening stages with Rashid Yussuff hitting the post after 12 minutes when he should have scored.

Jack Midson coming close to sliding home Jolley's left-wing cross before the Dons were awarded a 14th-minute penalty when Gary McDonald was adjudged to have fouled Luke Moore.

Moore stepped up for the kick but saw his effort denied by an excellent save from Barry Roche.

The save gave Morecambe a boost and the Shrimps then hit back with Stewart Drummond opening the scoring on 20 minutes. Lawrence Wilson swung over a deep corner and the Morecambe midfielder volleyed neatly past Seb Brown.

The visitors equalised on 35 minutes when Midson beat Roche at the near post from the edge of the area with a shot that seemed to zip through the greasy surface.

AFC Wimbledon had the better of the second-half possession and with time running out Jolley produced the decisive finish to give the visitors the three points.
