Morecambe maintained their push for a Conference play-off spot with this nail-biting victory over Steve Burr's battling Boro.

The Shrimps moved up to fourth in the table with their 14th home victory of the season thanks largely to the coolness of captain Stewart Drummond who slotted home two second-half penalties.

Morecambe had to come from behind after conceding a goal on 24 minutes through the first of three penalties awarded by Mr Miller.

On this occasion keeper Craig Mawson was adjudged to have brought down former Chester player Mickey Brown in the box and Gez Murphy stepped up to slot home the spot-kick.

That lead lasted less than a minute however as Morecambe bounced back almost immediately. Adriano Rigogliso found Lee Elam with a superb pass and Elam saw his dangerous low cross into the area diverted by Nuneaton debutant Lee Mansell into his own goal.

Then, out of the blue and in first-half injury time, Nuneaton went ahead for the second time in the afternoon.

A Dean Barrick cross was not cleared by the Morecambe defence and Mansell managed to score in the right net with a looping header.

A minute later Wayne Curtis had another chance to score but wasted a glorious opportunity before the half time whistle finally blew.

The second half began with Morecambe making a dream start when they were awarded their first penalty. Mansell was again in the thick of the action bringing down Morecambe's new boy Lee Collins in the box and Drummond scored with ease.

Nuneaton hit back on the hour with Murphy forcing Mawson into an excellent save but from then on it was the home side who always looked the more likely to score.

Curtis shot inches wide once again before Rigoglioso curled a superb free-kick against the foot of the Nuneaton post.

Rigoglioso came close with two further efforts before Morecambe were literally handed a lifeline when defender Jon Dyson handled Robbie Talbot's header.

He received a straight red card and to add insult to injury Drummond made no mistake with his penalty.
