Morecambe striker Wayne Curtis fired his side to an impressive victory over Stevenage Borough with his second successive double strike.
The Shrimps striker scored on 23 and 61 minutes, his second a superb left-foot drive following a shock Jason Goodliffe equaliser on 59 minutes.
And Danny Carlton extended the score in the sixth minute of injury time to give Morecambe their first victory over Boro in eight attempts.
Last season Stevenage won all four encounters between the two sides but from the moment Curtis opened his account Morecambe always looked the favourites to take the three points.
Stevenage provided very little threat up front and the game became something of a mid field battle between the two sides.
As a result chances were at a premium with both keepers largely spectators until a mad minute just on the hour saw two goals.
On 59 minutes Stevenage defender Goodliffe scored a superb goal after a neat one-two with substitute Graeme Tomlinson but within seconds the home side were back in front.
Goodliffe misjudged a long ball in the swirling wind and Curtis took full advantage with a stunning strike to beat Mark Westhead in the Boro goal.
From there on Wayne Turner's side threw everything at Morecambe but they could find no way through against a disciplined defence.
And it was Morecambe who scored again when Carlton coolly slotted home Adriano Rigoglioso's neat throughball.
It was a victory that delighted Morecambe boss Jim Harvey who said: "We still aren't at our best, but today I thought we thoroughly deserved the win.
"It was a good, solid performance and Wayne took his goals very well indeed."
A disappointed Stevenage manager, Wayne Turner commented: "We didn't really look a threat, but then we scored a terrific goal only to let them back into it about10 seconds later."
