An 86th minute winner from utility man Sam Ricketts gave Telford a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Morecambe, who had Adriano Rigoglioso dismissed just before half time.

Morecambe took the lead through Lee Collins on 50 minutes. But Telford were soon back on terms when Richard Lavery equalised and sealed the points late on.

Telford had the better of the early stages and Scott Green should have done better with an 18 yard shot in the second minute.

Morecambe, who were defeated in last season's play off semi-finals, looked dangerous coming forward and Gary Thompson and Rigoglioso both went close to handing the visitors an early advantage.

Stuart Whitehead should have done better on his home debut when he diverted a Blackwood header wide of the post, before the match's turning point on 44 minutes.

Thompson seemed to have won his side a penalty when he appeared to be brought down by a combination of Whitehead and Trevor Challis in the box.

The referee did not award a spot-kick and Rigoglioso was soon dismissed for taking his complaints too far and using foul and abusive language towards the officials.

But Morecambe adapted to life with ten men well and took the lead five minutes after the break when a free-kick from Thompson was only half cleared and Collins blasted a shot into the bottom corner from 25 yards.

Telford were desperate for an immediate response and got it when Lavery pounced on some poor Morecambe defending from a long throw from Green and looped a header over the stranded Craig Mawson in the visitors' goal.

Blackwood, Challis and substitute Chris Murphy all went close to giving the Bucks the lead as they pushed for victory.

But the winner finally came four minutes from time when another long throw from Green caused problems for Morecambe and Ricketts half volleyed a shot into the bottom of the net.
