Morecambe produced a second-half goal blitz to boost their play-off challenge while Woking conceded five goals or more for the seventh time this season.

Robbie Talbot hit the bar for the visitors in an even first half, but there was little sign of the drama to follow.

For Woking Raphael Nade should have done better when Ben Townsend played a ball over the top of Jamie Murphy, but under pressure the striker shot weekly at keeper Craig Mawson and the chance was gone.

Morecambe continued to look dangerous going forward and Talbot was a yard wide with a flashing drive after Gary Thompson's shot had been blocked by Dean Austin.

If it was meant as a warning to the home side then it was not heeded as Glenn Cockerill's side collapsed in the second half.

Within eight minutes of the break they were 2-0 down a great diagonal run from Thompson across the edge of the penalty area and a deft cross from the right picked out Talbot, whose header was firm and true as he put his team ahead.

Then good work by Lee Elam on the right ended with Adriano Rigoglioso waltzing into the box before sliding a low right-foot shot across keeper Robert Burch and into the far corner.

Nade's left-footer skimmed the bar moments later, but Morecambe weren't finished. Rigoglioso fed Thompson on the right and his superb run into the box ended with a left-footed shot high into the net for 3-0.

Substitute Danny Carlton rolled home a fourth, then lobbed a fifth as Woking capitulated.

Jonathan Coates hit the post at the other end, but Morecambe's excellent skipper Stewart Drummond rounded off the drubbing with a header deep into injury time.

For Morecambe it was a boost to their promotion quest, while Woking face yet another relegation scrap
