Chris Sharpling and on-loan frontman Richard Harris sparked Woking to an emphatic victory against in-form Morecambe.

The strike duo linked up to score a goal apiece as Glenn Cockerill's men bounced back from the shock 1-0 midweek defeat at Farnborough.

Neil Sharp's looping header gave them the lead while Sharpling raced clear to calmly slot home the second moments before half time.

The dreadful conditions didn't stop Woking extending their lead three minutes after the break.

A hopeful deep free-kick from Sharp prompted Morecambe keeper Craig Mawson to inexplicably race from his line as Harris shaped for a backward header.

With the goal empty it only took a mere glance from the striker to score Woking's third in bizarre fashion.

In truth Morecambe did not pose a goal threat at all in the second half, in contrast to the six times they found the net after the break in last season's corresponding fixture.

Garry Thompson, possibly Morecambe's liveliest player, was lucky to escape with just a yellow card for a late lunge on Ian Selley and a few handbags were thrown in some niggly incidents.

But a snappy half was livened up by Woking's fourth following which they played some lovely football.

Raphael Nade got the goal racing on to Gary McDonald's long pass forward before burying a left-foot shot past Mawson.

Morecambe scored almost immediately through substitute Nick Rogan, but it was no more than a consolation as Woking ran out comfortable winners.

Morecambe's Jamie Murphy commented afterwards: "I don't think there are any of us who can look at ourselves in the mirror and say we gave 100 per cent.

"We let ourselves and the club down with that performance." Woking boss Glenn Cockerill added: "I thought every one of my players was brilliant, but I am not going to get carried away about beating a team who are going for promotion."
